Feed the Future
Feed the Future is America's initiative to combat global hunger and poverty. Led by USAID and drawing upon the resources and expertise of agencies across the U.S. Government, Feed the Future brings partners together to help some of the world’s poorest countries harness the power of agriculture and entrepreneurship to jumpstart their economies and create new opportunities. Guided by the U.S. Government Global Food Security Strategy, Feed the Future works to boost agriculture-led growth, nutrition and resilience.
International Food Policy and Research Institute (IFPRI)
IFPRI seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. IFPRI is one of 15 centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, an alliance of 64 governments, private foundations, and international and regional organizations.
Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI)
OPHI is an economic research center within the Oxford Department of International Development at the University of Oxford. OPHI aims to build a more systematic framework for reducing multidimensional poverty, grounded in people’s experiences and values. Creating real tools that inform policies to reduce poverty, OPHI has two main research themes: multidimensional poverty measurement and missing dimensions of poverty data (improving data on topics such as violence and empowerment). OPHI’s methodologies have been adopted by policy makers, including national governments and the United Nations Development Programme Human Development Report.
CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM)
PIM led action-oriented research for a food-secure present and future, before ending in 2021. PIM’s research provided support for policies that help poor farmers, both men and women, improve their lives; produce nutritious and affordable foods; and protect the soil, water, and biodiversity in rural landscapes. PIM was led by IFPRI with contributions from the 15 CGIAR Research Centers and 3 external managing partners: Michigan State University, Wageningen University and Research Center, and World Vision International.
PIM has supported WEAI, A-WEAI, pro-WEAI and pro-WEAI+MI development.
Bill & Melinda Gates foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation’s guiding principle is that all lives have equal value. We are impatient optimists working to reduce inequity. To achieve our mission, we partner with organizations and support projects that give all people an opportunity to live a healthy, productive life. We aim to empower the poorest, especially women and girls, to transform their lives.
The Gates foundation has funded GAAP, pro-WEAI and pro-WEAI+MI development.
CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH)
With an innovative perspective that focuses on consumption and demand, A4NH sought to realize the enormous potential of agricultural development to make significant contributions to improving the nutrition and health of people worldwide prior to closing in 2021. As CGIAR’s only research program on nutrition and health, A4NH, which was led by the International Food Policy Research Institute, focused on the system-level outcome of improving food and nutrition security for health.
A4NH has supported pro-WEAI and pro-WEAI+MI development.
